29 babies were born on Wednesday at Government Medical College Hospital

AURANGABAD: It was just another day at the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) when 29 babies were born, though the date was special. "The interesting part is that the male female ratio has been almost 50:50," said head of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology, Government Medical College Hospital, Kanan Yelikar.

Yelikar said that at GMCH of the 29 babies, 20 were normal deliveries and nine were born through Caesarean section.

This is a routine practice, said medical superintendent, Shivaji Shukre. "On an average 50 babies are delivered every day at GMCH," he added.

The women who delivered the babies were from rural and urban areas. "Today, among the total babies 15 are girls and 14 are boys. The positive sign that is being observed in these coming months is that the equal ratio of male and female child birth," she said. 

"I do not believe in any astrological dates. We don't allow a woman to risk her life or that of the baby simply to deliver on a fancy date. I personally believe that delivering a child is a divine process, which should not be interfered with unnecessarily," she added.

औरंगाबाद :  बुधवारी गव्हर्नमेंट मेडिकल कॉलेज हॉस्पिटलमध्ये २९ बाळांनी जन्म घेतला.गमेकॉहॉ (GMCH) साठी तसा हा नेहेमीप्रमाणेच दिवस होता पण तारीख विशेष होती. गमेकॉहॉमधील प्रसूति आणि स्त्री रोग विभागाच्या प्रमुख कानन येलिकर म्हणाल्या,“यातील महत्त्वाची आणि गंमतीदार बाब अशी की, स्त्री-पुरूष लिंग गुणोत्तर प्रमाण ५०:५०%  असे होते.”

डॉ.कानन येलिकर म्हणाल्या,“ जन्मलेल्या २९ बाळांपैकी २० बाळांनी सामान्य विभागामध्ये तर ९ बाळांनी सीजेरियन विभागामध्ये जन्म घेतला. ”

(GMCH) चे चिकित्सा अधीक्षक, शिवाजी शुक्रे म्हणाले की, “हा आमच्या रूटीनचाच एक भाग झाला आहे, GMCH मध्ये रोज ५० बाळांचा जन्म होतो.”

बाळांना जन्म दिलेल्या महिला या शहरी आणि ग्रामीण अशा दोन्ही भागांतल्या आहेत. डॉ. येलिकर म्हणाल्या, "आज  सर्व बाळांमध्ये १५ मुली आहेत आणि १४ मुले असून ही समान स्त्री-पुरूष लिंग गुणोत्तर प्रमाणाची सकारात्मक बाजू वाटते. मी कोणत्याही ज्योतिषीय तिथींवर विश्वास ठेवत नाही. आम्ही कोणत्याही महिलेला त्यांना हव्या असलेल्या फॅन्सी तारखांना त्यांच्या बाळांना जन्म द्यायची परवानगी देत नाहीत. बाळांना जन्म देणे ही एक दिव्य प्रक्रिया आहे आणि त्यात आपण उगाचंच ढवळाढवळ करणे योग्य नाही. ”
